Friday Night Fright Review: The Stand (2020 Miniseries)

Have you been watching The Stand (2020 Miniseries)? I haven't missed an episode yet. I've been reading Stephen King books since I was very young, and I The Stand (1994 Miniseries) was one of my favorite's to watch. I've seen it so many times I can't even count. Overall, the series so far has been interesting, well cast, and very similar to what I know to be true of the story, and of Stephen King's works. So, I am pleased, and intrigued to know how they will be ending it. I don't want to give anything away, but I will say neither recount is really that far off the book, not that any show/movie is every 100% accurate, but if you know the book then I will tell you that I wish for nothing more than this series to end the way the book did. That would round this story out for me, and I would be oh so pleased.

If you are watching it what do you think of the series so far? My biggest complaint about the whole thing is the jump in the timeline. We time travel so much I've got whiplash. Now, I do know that this is a popular/trending way to create shows, but I just don't understand why. Even if you wanted to play through each character's history up to a certain point, and then they all connect and finish the story together that would be great, but nope, we jump around back and forth, and it is weird, and slightly confusing even for someone who knows the story so well it was sometimes hard to follow. But, I am excited for the conclusion, and I hope you join us on this adventure, and enjoy the ride.

I am currently streaming The Stand (2020 Miniseries) on CBS All Access, and I believe that is the only place to watch it, I know that Amazon has some add on subscriptions that you can add and you can also watch on there, but I do believe that it is the same as/tied to the CBS All Access subscription. I would rate the series a 4 out of 5 skulls, using the Shudder method of rating, and the only thing keeping it from 5 stars, is the timeline jumping. Let me know if you are watching and how you would like to see it end!
